What to see and do in Bergerac and the Dordogne
Bergerac is surrounded by its vineyards and their 13 appellations, it has many advantages not the least of which are its architectural heritage, culture, wine, gastronomy or sports. You will discover the old city with its pedestrian streets, the Peyrarede House, the cloister of the recollets and its maison des vins, the pretty half-timbered houses.From the old port, you may take a trip, up and down the Dordogne river, on an old traditional sailing barge. For both small and large appetites a multitude of small restaurants will satisfy your gourmandise.
On the cultural side the summer is rich with musical and theatrical events: the purple jazz festival, the Bergerac summer music fest (Baroque music and singing), Symphonia, world music...
